Barely two weeks after suspected gunmen killed two in the Birshin Fulani community, a suburb in Bauchi metropolis, a nursing mother, Rukayyat Odedoyin has been kidnapped in the area.
The Nation gathered that the gunmen who were about 10 stormed the residence of Odedoyin on motorbikes around 12:00am on Friday before she was whisked away while her three children were left behind.
Residents, who spoke to Nation, said they started hearing sporadic gunshots from the woman’s compound which woke them up but before they could alert the police they had already escaped.
The development led to a protest by members of the community over the state of insecurity in the area.
Our correspondent sighted a road blockage at the Bauchi-Dass road.
The protesters who carried branches of leaves chanted “Bamu yarda ba” in Hause, which means ”We disagree,” “We want government to intervene,” “We want security presence here,” among others,”
However the Bauchi State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident.
The spokesman of the command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, did not pick calls put across to him as at the time of filing this report.
