Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Yewande Sadiku, was yesterday grilled for about nine hours by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
She was interrogated for alleged abuse of office, bordering largely on suspicious award of contracts.
According to a source within the anti-graft agency, the NIPC boss has volunteered statement to a team of operatives.
The source, however, said there were still many grounds to be covered.
But it was unclear if the NIPC boss would be detained orallowed to go home as of press time.
The source said: “NIPC CEO, Mrs. Yewande Sadiku, is currently in the custody of the, EFCC. The technocrat who arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency at about 11am on Monday, was grilled by a team of operatives of the commission over wide-ranging allegations.
“The NIPC boss is being questioned for abuse of office, bordering largely on issues over contract running into several millions of naira and a posse of unearned frivolous allowances.
“She has spent over nine hours with her interrogators. She is cooperating and has volunteered statement but there are still a lot of grounds to be covered.”
