Some unknown gunmen reportedly attacked Ungwan Magaji, Kigam, Kisicho and Kikoba villages, Kauru local government area of Kaduna State on Monday.
Reports made available to newsmen revealed that no fewer than six people were killed in the fresh attack that occurred in the Sourthern Kaduna.
Confirming the deadly attack in a statement, the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan explained that a report from the Defence Headquarters Operation Safe Haven revealed that armed assailants attacked the villages early on Monday morning.
The six persons killed, according to the statement are Joseph Maza, Timvan Cibi Ciwo, Monday Titus, Asabe Magani, Laraba Danladi and Yosi Danladi. Southern Kaduna people accuse Federal Government, Kaduna government of neglect.
The statement explained that the troops arrived at the location and engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. It revealed further that the attackers destroyed eight houses, six huts, one motorcycle and a generator, as well as some maize crops.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has lamented the killing of the citizens and destruction of property. The governor expressed his sadness over the attack and condemned it in totality.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims, and sent his condolences to their families. The Governor tasked security agencies working in the area to sustain thorough investigations into the incident. News learnt that investigations were ongoing in the general area and that the government would keep the public abreast of developments.
Similarly, the statement explained that the military and other security agencies were working with the governments of Kaduna and Plateau States, towards containing the renewed cycle of violence in Kauru LGA of Kaduna State and Bassa LGA of Plateau State, respectively.
