A 42-year-old man identified as Onyeka Augustine was on Friday evening electrocuted while he was trying to illegally connect BEDC wire that was initially disconnected at Eguavoen Street, off First Upstairs Road Benin City

Edo State Commissioner of Police, Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu while confirming the incident o journalists said that on receiving the information of the electrocution, contacted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ikpoba Hill Division, CSP Moses Olanrewaju who immediately swung into action and drafted police operatives to the scene where they met the lifeless body of the man hanging on the wires.

The CP said the body was removed by the Police Operatives and deposited at a mortuary, adding that effort was being made to contact the family members of the deceased.

CP Ogbadu called on the good people of Edo State and the general public to always shun illegal activities as the result is always disastrous.

He again reiterates his commitment to a crime free Edo State, saying that information is important to achieving a crime free society.

The CP also called on well-meaning people in the State to continue to support the Police with credible information to enable it achieve its mandate of protecting lives and property.
