Aaron Ramsdale Tottenham Sheffield

Tottenham Hotspur are looking at bringing Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to the club in a bid to blood a future Hugo Lloris replacement.

According to the Mail Online Spurs are interested in handing the Englishman a lifeline back up to the Premier League following his relegation with the Blades last season.

Ramsdale is currently part of the England standby list after getting his first call up to the national side as part of Gareth Southgate’s initial squad of 33 for Euro 2020.

Tottenham are believed to be looking at replacing Lloris as the French keeper only has 12 months remaining on his contract going in to next season.

However, the North London club face competition for the signature of Ramsdale as Wolves are said to be interested in the shot-stopper too.

Wolves find themselves in a similar situation with number one goalkeeper Rui Patricio also heading into the final year of his contract.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to Rome to join Jose Mourinho as his number one.

Ramsdale has been highly rated as a future star, but despite his best efforts has faced back-to-back relegations from the Premier League with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

The 23-year-old only kept five clean sheets last season, but made the second highest number of saves in the league with 147.

Ramsdale has previously spoken about his desire to stay at the Blades and cement his place in their starting 11 after a career full of loan moves and short stints.

He said: “I want to build a rapport with my team-mates, my defenders and the fans for when they come in,

“I have been on loan and only had the one season with Bournemouth.

“This is now time for me to kick on. I want to be part of it and help the team and be consistent every week.”

The South Yorkshire club will be trying their best to fight to keep their best players in an attempt to bounce straight back up to the top flight in a similar fashion to Watford and Norwich.
