Swansea City are set to confirm the signing of Preston North End-linked striker Kyle Joseph, according to our colleagues WalesOnline.

PNE were one of several clubs in for his signature earlier this summer but the highly-rated Wigan Athletic man looks set to move to Liberty Stadium.

Joseph is out of contract with Wigan this month and had been offered fresh terms by the Latics.

But he appears ready to depart for pastures new, with a move to the Championship in store for the 19-year-old.

There had been reported interest from Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle United, Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur – as well as PNE – in the front man.

Given that Joseph is under 24 years of age, the Swans will be required to pay Wigan a compensation fee.

Andre Ayew will leave Swansea this month so the club are in need of reinforcements at the top end of the pitch, following their play-off final defeat to Brentford.

Joseph broke into Wigan’s first-team last season and scored five goals in 16 games for the League One club.
