The return of Harry Maguire to England training has come as a huge boost on the eve of Euro 2020.
That’s the message from Chelsea defender Reece James, who forms part of the 26-man Three Lions squad for this summer’s tournament – alongside the Manchester United captain.
An injury Maguire picked up against Aston Villa last month saw him miss United’s final games of the season, with ankle ligament damage also putting his Euro 2020 participation in doubt.
However, after spending a month on the sidelines, the £80million centre-back has returned to training for England ahead of their Group D opener against Croatia on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
That first clash beneath the famous arch at Wembley will come too soon for Maguire – but Champions League winner James is delighted to simply see him back in the mix.
During a pre-tournament press conference, James said: “We all know how much of a key player he is in this squad and you can see how big of an influence he has when he didn’t play in the Europa League final.
