One student has been confirmed dead while a yet-to-be-ascertained number has been kidnapped by gunmen who invaded Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria, Kaduna State on Wednesday night.

The chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Zaria chapter, Engr. Aliyu Musa Kofa, who made the disclosure, said the gunmen invaded the staff quarters of the institution around 10pm and shot dead an HND II Statistics student, Ahmed Abdulhamid.

The ASUP chairman further disclosed that two lecturers namely Mr.Habila Nasal and Malam Adamu Mohammed Shika were abducted while a wife and two children of Malam Ahmad Abdul were also kidnapped but released this Thursday morning.

Similarly, sources said about 10 students both male and females were among the kidnapped.

When contacted for comment, the Public Relation Officer of the Institution, Malam Abdullahi Mohammed, confirmed the incident but declined to reveal exact figure of the victims.

“We are sceptical to announce figure of those involved because we are still conducting search to acertain the exact number of people affected by the unfortunate incident.

“This is to the fact that there are still some missing students whose whereabouts are being verified.

“I will, however, communicate as soon as the verification exercise is concluded,” he stated.
