The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Command, has said that no fewer than 67 lives were lost in road accidents across the state between January and February this year.
This was disclosed by the Kwara Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, during an interview with Daily Trust in his office.
Owoade stated that 46 people lost their lives in road accident in January while 21 deaths were recorded in the month of February.
Giving a breakdown, the official said the Command recorded 32 road crashes which involved 54 vehicles in the month of January.
He attributed causes of the accidents to speed limit violation, tyre burst, wrongful overtaking, and dangerous driving among others.
He disclosed that the command also arrested 3,270 offenders for 3,413 offences in January and February, adding that some offenders were charged with more than five offences.
He pleaded with drivers – both commercial and private, to always abide by traffic rules and regulations, adding that it is for their own safety and that of their passengers.
