Manchester City have named the 23 players that will make up their squad for the Champions League last-16 first-leg match vs Gladbach.

Pep Guardiola has taken a strong squad with him to Hungary for the first leg of Manchester City’s Champions League tie.

The Blues take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the last-16 of the European competition, with the game being played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest rather than at the home of their opponents because of Covid restrictions. And with Nathan Ake the only member of the group not fit enough to be in training, the City boss has an array of talent at his disposal.

Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne both made the plane after making their first starts at Arsenal following their injuries, while Sergio Aguero is also included as he looks for his first minutes since the beginning of the year. Scott Carson travels as the third goalkeeper, with Zack Steffen and Ederson in front of him.

Luke Mbete, Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, Alpha Dionkou, Claudio Gomes, Adrian Bernabe, James McAtee and Felix Nmecha all trained with the senior squad on Tuesday morning but the only academy player to make it into the travelling squad is midfielder Tommy Doyle.

With UEFA allowing 23 players in the matchday squad, everyone that has gone to Hungary will be named either on the bench or in the starting XI.

City will look to bring an advantage back to Manchester for the second leg. They host Gladbach in three weeks’ time shortly before their FA Cup quarter-final at Everton and the international break.

City confirmed squad for Champions League game: Ederson, Steffen, Carson, Cancelo, Walker, Dias, Stones, Laporte, Garcia, Zinchenko, Mendy, Rodri, Fernandinho, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Doyle, Foden, Bernardo, Torres, Mahrez, Aguero, Jesus, Sterling
