The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr Olugbenga Oyerinde, has called on market leaders and Community Development Associations to cooperate with waste managers for efficient and effective waste management within the Lagos Island Business District.
Oyerinde made the call on Thursday at a meeting with leaders of Market Associations, Community Development Associations and representatives of the State Waste Management Authority at the Lagos Island Office of CBD.
He said the cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders to manage waste generated within the business district was necessary to stem the growing resurgence of heap of refuse dumped on roadsides and drainages within the business district.
He said, “Let me warn now that landlords and shop owners should be a watchdog of their vicinity and report any person dumping waste on road medians and street because henceforth, landlords and shop owners will be made to account for waste accumulated in their properties.”
The Lagos Island East Zonal Manager of LAWMA, Mr Adeshina Lawal, urged shop owners, market leaders and Community Development Associations to prevail on the ir members to stop attacking LAWMA official.
