The Director-General, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Aliyu Jauro, said on Monday that the government is set to review the national environmental battery control regulations 2020.
He added that the review would ensure how best abandoned batteries could be put to use.
Jauro spoke in Abuja at the 10th National Regulatory Dialogue on Implementation of National Regulations.
He said NESREA has registered battery collectors who can manage the recycling activities of the batteries that will be collated, adding that NESREA will also monitor and ensure that they are done in a sound and clean environment.
The DG said the agency is coming up with a new regulation, which has to do with abandoned battery, noting that the concentration will be on car and solar battery energy with a focus on cleaner form of energy, which is sunlight.
