Piers Morgan has revealed both his parents contracted coronavirus.
The star spoke on Good Morning Britain about how his mum and step-dad, Gabrielle and Glynne Pughe-Morgan, have fought the disease over a ‘scary fortnight’.
He did however confirm that they had come out the other side and are in recovery, with his father complaining about loss of taste and smell.
Peirs said: ‘I’d like to say something to my parents, they are both battling COVID and have been for two weeks and it’s a scary thing for a family…
‘When your elderly parents are fighting it, they are both in their mid to late 70s, and they got it two weeks ago from someone in their bubble and they had to go out and they were very sensible but got the virus and then bang it was like dominoes.’
Piers’ biological father Eamonn Vincent O’Meara, tragically died in a road accident when Piers was just 11-months-old, and when his mother remarried, the TV star and journalist took on his step-dad’s surname.
Piers’ Good Morning Britain co-star Kate Garraway has watched her husband Derek Draper fight the deadly disease since March.
She revealed on Friday that her husband, a former Blair lobbyist, was able to whisper the word ‘pain’, who watched on ‘in tears’ over FaceTime.
He was originally admitted to hospital with COVID-19 symptoms on March 30 and remains seriously ill.
