The Katsina State government has alerted the public on the circulation of fake documents allegedly belonging to the state government and containing financial transactions, in a clear attempt to cause disaffection and threaten the peace of the state.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Culture & Home Affairs, Alhaji Abdulakarim Yahaya Sirika, who made the above disclosure in a press release to newsmen in Katsina, said the state government’s initial countenance was to disregard the fake documents, as the claims were too outrageous to warrant any response.
He said: ’’The doctored documents clearly put facts on its head by alluding to expenditure of funds that the Government does not even have. In undertaking the sinister mischief, the authors of the fake documents forged signatures of key government officials, including that of His Excellency, the governor. This is a clear act of criminality.
‘’The Government has therefore laid a formal complaint to security agencies to get to investigate the origin of these documents and bring those engaged in the acts to account.’’
He called on the general public and the people of Katsina State to disregard the fake documents and treat them as such.
