Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has approved the appointment of Prof. Tor Iorapuu as the  Vice-Chancellor of Benue State University (BSU).

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Tony Ijoho told reporters yesterday in Makurdi that: “The Visitor, Governor Samuel Ortom has approved the appointment of Prof. Iorpuu as the new vice of Benue State University, Makurdi.”

The Nation learnt three names: Professors Iorapuu, Tarhule Vitalis and Omudu Agbo were submitted to the Visitor by the council from the initial 7 who passed an examination.

The tenure of the current VC Prof. Msugh Kembe ends on November 3.

Prof. Iorapuu, who is ‘eminently qualified’ had political consideration as an added advantage, having contested the 2019 PDP governorship primaries against Governor Orton.

Iorapuu hails from Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

He attended Government College and College of Education, all in Katsina-Ala, Benue State; and the University of Jos, , where he read Theatre Arts up to PhD level.

He served his alma mater as a member of Faculty. A professor in the Department of Theatre and Film Arts, he was also Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Jos.
