The Borno State Government has said it is deploying 776 newly – recruited teachers to secondary schools in the state .
A statement on Tuesday quoted Governor Babagana Zulum as saying the move was part of his government ’ s plan to reform secondary schools in Borno .
The governor , according to the statement by his media aide , Mallam Isa Gusa , said the new teachers would resume on November 1 .
Gusa said his principal spoke in Maiduguri after a meeting with stakeholders in the education ministry .
He said the governor directed the state “ Ministry of Education and the state Universal Basic Education Board to also recruit some qualified retired teachers , particularly science teachers , on an ad hoc basis , to make up for shortage of science teachers . ”
The governor also announced that the State Executive Council had resolved to extend the retirement age of tutors at state – owned tertiary institutions .
