The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is set to stop the dumping of unsafe counterfeit products in the markets.
Its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Co-ordinator Gambo Dimka made this known during the MANCAP certificate presentation in Abuja.
He stated that the event was aimed at ensuring that manufactured products conform to the NIS standard prior to sales or export.
Dimka said the scheme is aimed at protecting genuine manufacturers against unhealthy practices such as production of substandard product, faking, and unhealthy practices.
It also provides consumers with confidence that manufactured products were fit and safe.
The Chairman, Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), Abuja, Odun Emanselu said the dwindling manufacturing performance was substantiated by capacity utilisation in the sector which slowed to 56 per cent last year, from 57.8 per cent the previous year.
