Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan took aim at US President Donald Trump on the show on Tuesday, after his return to The White House where he claimed “we’re gonna beat” the virus.
He also suggested a vaccine was close, while querying if he was now immune.
Trump was revealed to have tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday before being admitted to a hospital a day later.
Just days on and the president says he is “feeling great” and better than ever, after being treated for Covid-19.
He’s now back in The White House, telling the US public not to fear the virus, and not to let it “dominate their lives”.
Piers slammed the idea of him being a role model, before labelling him a “super spreader” of the virus.
Taking aim at him on GMB, he slammed his “tone deaf” response to his treatment too, after Trump claimed the country had access to some of the best medicines in the world.
As his co-host Susanna Reid pointed out not everyone would have access to the same treatment, Piers brought up the soaring death toll and case numbers from the US.
He said: “He’s not a role model, he’s become an anti-role model from this virus hasn’t he.”
Piers went on: “Mr President, you just had the best health care imaginable for any human being on this Earth.
“With an army of the greatest physicians in America, they’ve given you drugs some of which are not even available to the general public.
“By the way, you still have the virus Mr President. You’re still infectious with the virus and what do you do?
“You take your mask off in this big, dramatic ‘I don’t need this, cos I’m Mr strong guy,’ then he walks back into The White House.
“He walks back towards a load of people standing there, who he presumingly doesn’t care if he infects or not.”
Piers went on to hit out at Trump for his drive-by visit to supporters, claiming he was “risking the lives” of his security team.
He also hit out over his message about “feeling great”, saying: “It is the most tone deaf response imaginable. I wish I could say I was surprised but he’s way behind in the polls.”
Piers called him a “desperate man” claiming to be a superhero, but called him a “super spreader”.
Susanna agreed with this, before Piers went on: “Your refusal to take decisive action has led to catastrophe in your country.”
