Marcos Alonso is keen on ending his time at Chelsea in favour of a switch to Inter Milan after being on the receiving end of a dressing down from boss Frank Lampard.
The Spanish full-back was hauled off at half-time in Saturday’s match with West Brom as Lampard made a desperate attempt to battle back from three goals down.
Alonso was largely at fault for The Baggies’ opener, giving the ball away with a hospital header from which Callum Robinson eventually scored.
He was then caught napping as Robinson doubled his tally unmarked from a corner to put West Brom 3-0 up.
Having been subbed at the break, Alonso then opted to return to the team bus rather than watch the second half.
After the game things got heated as Lampard laid into Alonso for his conduct, with some Chelsea stars left convinced the 29-year-old would not feature for the club again, as per a report from The Athletic .
Now former boss Antonio Conte is said to be offering Alonso a route out of Stamford Bridge to reunite with him at Inter.
According to The Times , Alonso is hopeful of securing a move before next week’s transfer deadline.
Inter have been linked with Chelsea’s other back-up left-back Emerson Palmieri, though Alonso’s relationship with Conte could prove crucial.
Conte has already taken Victor Moses to the San Siro and landing Alonso would mean the Inter boss has both wing-backs from his title-winning campaign at Chelsea.
Neither Emerson nor Alonso is considered first choice anymore following the arrival of Ben Chilwell from Leicester.
Chelsea have already allowed midfielder Ross Barkley to leave the club on loan to Aston Villa, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also depart on a temporary basis.
Defender Antonio Rudiger also looks likely to move on after falling down the pecking order with West Ham one of the clubs interested.
