The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Lagos has commenced training in Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B_NOAS) for 1000 participants and 200 participants in cosmetology training.
The two training schemes are among various vocational skills under the Vocational Skills Development programme department of the NDE.

The Director-General of NDE, Dr. Nasir Argugun, represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Edward Olayebi Serena, informed the trainees would undergo training in various vocational trades including catering, electrical installation, tiling, paint making, POP designs, fashion design, carpentry amongst others.

She added the trainees would be attached to seasoned and successful NDE master trainers in the informal sector.

The Director-General of the National Films and Video Censor Board (NFVSB), Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, who flagged off the ceremony, congratulated the shortlisted trainees.

He enjoined them to make good use of the opportunity accorded them as the sky is the limit for all focused and dedicated skill workers.

He also thanked the master trainers for their tenacity in ensuring the teeming youths of the nation are well engaged in positive ventures.

He said the moves would ultimately reduce the unemployment bracket in the nation and making employers of labour.

He argued the multiplier effect could not be overemphasized.

The Chairman of the trainers’ forum NDE, Mr. Micheal Ademosun, enjoined the trainees to get ready to tap from the vast knowledge of the trainers.
