The Department of State Services (DSS) and other civil security agencies have been urged, to synergise with the Nigeria Police in the fight against banditry and other security challenges bedevilling the country.
Northern Youth Parliament and United Northern Youths and Students who made the call in Kaduna on Tuesday said the banditry in North-Western part of the country could only be defeated with such synergy and intelligence sharing among the security agencies.
Addressing reporters in Kaduna, leaders of the groups, Jabir Maiturare and Usman Kankia said the Police under the leadership of IGP Muhammad Adamu was committed to a crime-free nation.
They also praised the police for ensuring that the just concluded gubernatorial election in Edo state was violent-free.
They equally praised the efforts of the Police on keeping Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and some other parts of the country safe.
“The Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Muhammad Adamu has done creditably well in handling the security challenges Nigeria. There is, therefore, need for cooperation from other relevant authorities to sustain the security.”
