The Croods 2: A New Age has finally released its first trailer, which gives fans a first look at the franchise’s new characters – including two newcomers who are voiced by Star Wars’ Kelly Marie Tran and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage respectively.

Reuniting the original voice cast, which includes Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone, the animated sequel follows the titular family as they go off in search of a safer place to call home.

The gang can’t believe their luck when they stumble across an idyllic, walled-in paradise. But there’s just one problem, the Bettermans have already set up camp there.

Like their name suggests, the Bettermans seem to trump the Croods every which way – from farming and treehouse building to prehistoric beastie evading.

And when the Bettermans take in the Croods in as the world’s first houseguests, it isn’t long before tensions escalate between the cave family and the modern family.

In the film, Dinklage voices Betterman clan patriarch, Phil, while Leslie Mann (Blockers) brings his partner Hope to life. Tran, who famously played Rose Tico in the Star Wars sequel movies, portrays Phil and Hope’s daughter, Dawn.

The film is directed by Joel Crawford, while Clark Duke, Cloris Leachman and Catherine Keener, who all featured in the 2013 original, round out the cast.

Just yesterday, it was reported that Universal Pictures has brought the US release date of The Croods 2: A New Age forward by a month, so instead of landing in cinemas on December 23, it will now be shown from November 25.

Unfortunately, UK fans will have to wait considerably longer to see what Eep, Grug and co have been up to, as its release date over here remains February 5, 2021 for now.
