Police on Friday killed two armed robbers in a fierce shoot-out in New Gwarimpa around Zuma rock in Suleja local government area of Niger state.
The shoot-out occurred in an attempt by the Police to stop a robbery attack in the area.
The Police had received calls from concerned residents that armed robbers were operating in the area.
The Police confirmed that four armed robbers who were operating engaged the police in gunfire when on sighting them.
One of the robbers was killed on the spot while the other later died at a Clinic in Masala.
The other Robbers took to their heels, reporters learnt.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman confirmed the incident saying that his officers had to respond to distress calls from the area.
He added that the gun battle led to the death of two of the robbers
“Our officers engaged some suspected armed robbers in a gun duel at New Gwarinpa via Zuma rock Suleja, in the process, two of the gunmen sustained gunshot injuries and one of them died on the spot.
“While the second later died at Lucas Clinic Madalla where he was initially taken for treatment.”
The Commissioner of Police said that items recovered from the suspects include two laptop computers as well as two plasma televisions.
