Selena Gomez has joked that her ex-boyfriends all think she is “crazy” while opening up about the struggles of dating during quarantine.

The 28-year-old discussed her love life during a YouTube interview about her new makeup line Rare Beauty with makeup guru Nikkie de Jager, better known as NikkieTutorials.

During the video, which sees Gomez and the YouTuber trying out the beauty products, the Ice Cream singer said her makeup artist Hung Vanngo would be doing her makeup at her wedding – before joking that her wedding “is never gonna happen”.

“It’s hard in quarantine,” she continued, adding that “this is also not an invitation.”

“It’s just funny,” she said, “because I release things that say ‘I want a boyfriend’ and stuff, and people say that, and I’m like: ‘No, I didn’t really mean that though.’ Guys are a lot of work.”

“Every one of my exes thinks I’m crazy,” she added. “So I don’t care.”

This is not the first time the pop star, who has previously dated celebrities including Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and Nick Jonas, has opened up about being single.

In October of last year, Gomez revealed during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show that she’s been “super, super single for two years” but wants to know “what that love will look like next for me”.

“I want it to be real and I don’t want it to be co-dependent or messy or lack of communication,” she said of her hopes for her next relationship. “When you get older, you find people who are actually right for you, that are actually on the same wavelength as you.”

The singer also reflected on her past relationships and on what she will do differently in the future, explaining that she will be “very transparent”.

“I don’t have room to buffer things that I need or that I want,” she said.

“I think girls can sometimes be scared of that, because we’re viewed as crazy or needy or overthinking things or dramatic. I understand sometimes, but I love being a girl and I love having the emotions I have, falling super deep and being passionate. It’s just about containing it and channeling it in the right areas.”
