The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State for allegedly sponsoring the violence recorded in some parts of the state during the local government election at the weekend.
The PDP Chairman in Ondo State, Hon. Fatai Adams while addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Akure, said that the resolve of the people to move against APC during the local government polls was an indication that the time of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led APC administration is up in the state.
Adams who emphasized that the PDP will emerge victorious on October 10, said Governor Akeredolu and his party, APC should be held responsible for any violence at the forthcoming polls.
According to Adams, violence marred the local government election conducted by the state Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC alleging that APC thugs brutalized the people and vandalized vehicles at locations where people resisted their rigging plans.
Adams also called on security agencies to apprehend former Chairman of APC in the state, Isaacs Kekemeke over his utterances that violence would be employed for the October 10 governorship polls.
In the video, Kekemeke was said to have admitted that APC was behind the destruction of the campaign billboards and posters Of Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, the PDP standard-bearer.
Kekemeke also stated that federal might will be deployed in the state and will, in turn, ensure that APC wins at the poll.
“We are very surprised that up till now, the Security Agencies have not apprehended D.I. Kekemeke to answer for his utterances that are capable of precipitating crisis and setting Ondo State on fire ahead of the Gubernatorial Election in the State.
