Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi is sponsoring a bill for a law to enact the Nasarawa state gender-based violence (Prohibition) law and other matters connected therewith.

This, he said, would help in curbing the rate of gender-based violence crimes in the state if finally passed into law by the assembly.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura, who presided over the sitting, slated September 15, 2020, for the second reading of the bill.

Bearable Abdullahi while presenting the first reading of the bill said that it has become imperative due to the negative effects of gender violence on societal development.
