The Katsina State Government has announced a suspected case of Coronavirus in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, in the state’s Ministry of Health, Dr Kabir Mustapha, made the announcement on Wednesday while speaking to newsmen in Katsina.
According to him, the patient just returned from Malaysia and developed some symptoms that warranted further investigations, adding that the patient is currently in self-isolation.
Mustapha further added that his samples had been taken and results are expected by Thursday, after which he said contact tracing would commence.
The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that the ministry has taken all precautionary measures and closely working with the National Centre for Disease Control on the matter.
Mustapha further said that the patient’s history of travel was a high index one, and the symptoms reported at the clinic prompted actions.
He said that since his arrival in the state, the patient had resulted in personal protection of using face mask and self-isolation.
He also called on people in the host community of Dutsinma Town to be cautious of their movements and gatherings, adding that they should feel free to seek medical attention as all precautionary measures were in place to provide support.
