All is set for the first Episcopal visit of the Bishop of Nike Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt.  Rev. Dr. Christian Onyeka Onyia to the Emene South Archdeaconry headquarters, St. Marks Church Emene, Enugu to perform the 2019 confirmation service for the admission of members into the Girls Guide, Mothers Guide and Mothers Union.

The highly consecrated service slated for  Sunday will be Bishop Onyia’s first confirmation service in the Archdeaconry as Bishop of the Diocese of Nike Anglican Communion.

The bishop, who reiterated his commitment to rural evangelism stated that his mission as a bishop is to make more disciples for the kingdom of God through taking the gospel to the unreached.

He stated that his firm belief in evangelism, especially to the rural areas formed his decision to make “The Great Commission” the topic of the synod of the Diocese in the next three years.

According to him,  the confirmation service will bring the youth to be confirmed and those to be admitted to the Girls Guide closer to God for the task of disciples making. Those to be admitted into Mothers Guild and Mothers Union he said would be taught how to be responsible and virtuous women with the aim of living exemplary lives that will win disciples to God.

The bishop will be accompanied to the event by his wife, Mrs. Nneka Onyia who is the president of Mothers Guild and Mothers Union in the Diocese. She will present the women to be admitted in to the positions to the bishop for admission.

Meanwhile, the Archdeacon of Emene South Archdeaconry and vicar of St. Marks Church, Emene, Enugu, Ven.  Dr. Ikechukwu Ozigbo has assured that every arrangement has been concluded for the success of the highly consecrated ceremony.

He described the event as a home coming for the bishop who served meritoriously as a Vicar and Archdeacon in the Archdeaconry before his elevation to the status of a bishop.

Wife of the Archdeacon, Dr. Mrs. Chinelo Ozigbo who is chairperson of Mothers Union in St. Mark’s church and Emene South Archdeaconry is expected to present the candidates to the wife of the bishop who will in turn present them to the bishop for the confirmation.
