TMZ reports the UFC fighter slapped the fan’s phone out of their hand as they tried to take a picture of him on their way out of the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.
Conor had allegedly been walking out of the hotel at the same time as the fan at 5am and stomped on the phone several times when it fell to the ground. In a police report obtained by the publication, McGregor allegedly picked up the phone and walked away with it. He was arrested for strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief over $1000.
Conor’s attorney has released a statement to TMZ, it said: Conor McGregor was involved a minor altercation over a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement. Mr McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.
The sports star was arrested in New York in April last year after attacking a bus of rival UFC fighters during URF 223 fight week, smashing the windows and throwing objects at the bus. He was charged with assault and criminal mischief, but was released after posting his $50,000 bail.
McGregor pled guilty to one count of disorderly conduct and was given five days of community service, up to three days of anger management evaluation and was required to pay compensation for the damage he caused.
His recent arrest came days after he completed his probation, including five days community work in Brooklyn and completing an anger management class.
