An inquest into Flint’s death began at 9.30am in Chelmsford, with coroner’s officer Lynsey Chaffe telling the court that Flint’s provisional medical cause of death is hanging.

Keith Flint died by hanging, an inquest has heard.

She said: Police attended, all protocols were followed and his death was confirmed as not suspicious.

The Firestarter singer was found by police at his home in the Essex hamlet of North End after being called to perform a welfare check. A post-mortem examination carried out at Broomfield Hospital on 7 March found the cause of death.

Ms Chaffe added that this remains under investigation as they await toxicology reports. Senior coroner for Essex Caroline Beasley-Murray opened and adjourned the inquest until 23 July, when a full hearing will be held.

Two days before his death, Keith completed the Chelmsford Park Run 5k, with a personal best time of 21.22.

The music industry has been left devastated by the loss of Keith, with his Prodigy band-mates calling him a true pioneer, innovator and legend.

People have also been sharing their stories about what a nice person he was, with James Blunt’s story particularly tugging at heartstrings.

It is believed that in the two years before his death, Flint was in a relationship with Faye Kelbie, with sources claiming the star split from wife Mayumi Kai three years ago.
