The 32-year-old made a surprise appearance at the Staples Center awards ceremony on Sunday evening to accept his award for best rap song.
After he was announced as the winner, it momentarily seemed as though someone would have to accept the award on his behalf but Drake suddenly appeared on-stage.
Dressed smartly in a black suit with turtleneck jumper and a thin chain around his neck, drake proudly held up his golden gong and delivered a motivational acceptance speech, paying tribute to all the aspiring musicians.

In his brief speech, the Canadian rapper said: ‘I definitely did not think I would win anything.’ Sure… which is why he made a rare appearance after skipping the awards many times over the years.
The chart-topping rapper continued: ‘All the kids that are aspiring to do music, we play in an opinion based sport, this is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people to understand what a mixed race kid from Canada would say, or what a kid from Houston would say.
Drake then pointed to his friend and SICKOMODE rapper Travis Scott, adding: ‘My brother Travis.’ He continued: ‘You’ve already won if people are singing your songs word for word.
If there are regular people going out in the snow to come an see your shows, you’ve already won.
