The first trailer for This Time with Alan Partridge has landed and it’s the wonderfully painful experience you’d hope it would be.

Steve Coogan’s radio host is returning to the BBC for a new six-part comedy series, with Alan making the leap from his little-known Radio Norfolk show to hosting for a live televised programme on the Beeb in front of millions.

What could go wrong? Well, if he doesn’t get that glass of water… His show offers a ‘heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight; very much the sweet spots for a man whose CV boasts over two decades of weekday local radio,’ according to the BBC – and we’re in.

This Time with Alan Partridge is expected to drop on BBC One later this month (Picture: BBC) This Time sees Coogan reunited with long-term co-writers Neil and Rob Gibbons, who also penned Alan’s latter works including Morning Matters and Alpha Papa as well as several Partridge biographies.

28 years after Alan’s first appearance on Radio 4’s On The Hour, he still comes back to the lovably offensive DJ.

I revisit him from time to time but funnily enough the more success I have with things outside Alan Partridge the more I want to carry on,’ he said, smiling, of his beloved caricature.
