The Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis at Old Trafford in December, and has gone ten matches without a defeat in all competitions.
Solskjaer beat Burnley coach Sean Dyche and Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhuttl to the prestigious prize after the polls.
The 45-year-old has however become the first Norwegian, as a player or manager, to win a Premier League monthly award.
United claimed ten points in four matches in the month under review – with three wins over Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion.
While their last match in the first month of the year ended in a 2-2 draw against Burnley after two late goals from Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof secured a point for them at Old Trafford.
