The Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris has removed the Imo state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi. Reports has it that Galadanchi has now been transferred to the Bauchi state Command. The IGP also removed three of Galadanchi’s deputies commissioners in the state command. According to the report, deputies removed were those in charge of Operations and State Criminal and Investigation Departments of the Command.
Also removed were 11 out of the 14 Assistant Commissioners of Police in the Command with those affected including area commanders and others heading strategic departments in the Command headquarters. A police source described the redeployment as “a tsunami” because the Command had never witnessed such massive transfers.
“The IGP has removed the Commissioner of Police, all the three Deputy Commissioners of Police and 11 out of the 14 Assistant Commissioners of Police. “The transfers are with immediate actions. The Command is expecting a new CP any moment from now,” the source, who was speaking on grounds of anonymity, said.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of Kogi State Command, Ali Janga, has reportedly been transferred to Imo state. Police spokesperson for Imo Command Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed that they were awaiting the arrival of a new Commissioner of Police for the state.
