Akwa Ibom women dressed in black mourning clothes staged a protest March in the streets of Uyo this morning demandin!g for the removal of the state commissioner of police, Musa Kimo for peace to reign in the state.

The placard carrying women led by the state commissioner for women Affairs, Glory Edet landed at the state assembly complex with various inscriptions where they were received at the gate by the speaker, Onofiok Luke.

Luke who thanked them for showing solidarity with the lawmakers, accused the police of colluding with the sacked lawmakers to perpetrate illegality and scuttle democracy and peace in the state.

The speaker openly accused the former governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio of being the brain behind the crisis which is threatening peace in the state and called on relevant security agencies to call him to order.

In another development, youths of oil bearing communities are about now staging a protest at the headquarters of oil giant ExxonMobil at the Qua Ibo Terminal, Ibeno to condemn the threat to peace in the state and are threatening to shut down oil installations if the peace of the state is disrupted by politicians aided by security agencies.
