Multiple people are dead after a shooter opened fire Saturday morning at the Tree of Life Congregation, a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Police responded to reports of an active shooter at the synagogue, which was crowded for Saturday service, shortly before 10 a.m. Police told KDKA they had received several calls from people barricaded inside the building and that the gunman fired on responding officers.
As of 11:15 a.m. EST, police had confirmed that multiple people were dead, according to KDKA and the Associated Press.
WPXI reporter Lori Houy tweeted photos and video of “huge police presence” near the synagogue.
President Donald Trump tweeted that he was “watching the events unfolding” and urged people to stay safe.
