CEO of Genevieve magazine and talk show host Betty Irabor is set to present her clothing collection to promote mental health awareness.
Few months back Betty dropped her book titled ”Dust To Dew” and now her fashion line will walk the runway on Thursday October 25th 2018 at the Lagos Fashion Weekend.
She announced the good news on social media:
I am a child of a prophecy, destined for greatness, born for a time such as this, nations that don’t know me now will seek me in due season! I am from this world but I am not of this world . He who is in me is greater than he who is the world.
My mama was a tailor for 40 years , a seamstress and she raised all 5 of us from yields of that passion. I couldn’t and can’t sew to save my life. Because mum slaved over the Singer machine day and night, I saw sewing as HARD LABOUR!
Having a fashion collection was not in the plan until about a couple of months ago when I thought of a collection for mental health awareness. I shared the idea with my hubby, family and bestie @barbielaw6126 & then called @omoyemiakerele for Lagos fashion week and she said YES. I called @maiatafo my former fashion editor at Genevieve and he was like “let’s do it, I will be the creative director”. We then approached the Founder of @patrickayanski fabric and she delightedly agreed to sponsor this fashion cause. She went all the way for us. Getting the designers was heartwarming as they embraced it wholeheartedly in spite of the short notice. The theme of the collection was DEW (fun, bright, floral, a burst of effervescent colors, bold, happy, cheery) and that’s what you will be viewing tomorrow, Thursday at the Lagos Fashion Weekend.. thanks to my wonderful Partners/ designers @maiatafo @lanredasilvaajayi @tojufoyeh @dzynbabe @ladybeellionaire_luxury @ejiroamostafiri @ujuestelo @rherhefashion @houseofkaya_ng @og_styletemple @houseofnwocha @needlepointwoman
Truth is, you can live and be everything you have always wanted if you just close your eyes and jump! yes, there are no guarantee of success but failure is not guaranteed either.
