A group supporting candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Grassroots Network for Atiku (GNA) 2018 has promised to mobilize 10 million votes for him.

National Coordinator of the group, Barrister Isa Mohammed disclosed this in Bauchi on Monday.

He said the group is mobilising support for Atiku from people that have Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

According to him, they have contacted over three million Nigerians at the grassroots who have permanent voters card and they have all pledged their votes for Atiku while promising to reach out to other Nigerians with PVCs for Atiku to win the presidential election in 2019‎.

The group however, faulted the travel restrictions on 50 Nigerians by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It calls the decision as sheer fascism, illegal and lack of respect for the rule of law as well as the violation of the affected persons’ fundamental human right as guaranteed in the 1999 constitution.

National Coordinator of the group said that the statement issued by the Presidency on the full implementation of the “Executive Order 6”, which allegedly included dead people in the list, clearly shows that the president and his government lack respect to the rule of law.

According to him, the president is only eager to cripple his political opponents through direct clamp down on citizens’ rights as guaranteed by the constitution.

Barrister Mohammed said “we are in a democracy and Nigerians has right to elect leaders of their choice not by force but by their goodwill.

The government’s move is a sign that Nigerians want to change Buhari with Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, since after the emergence of Atiku as PDP Presidential flag bearer, Buhari-led government and accomplices have been in panic.”
