Afro-pop singer, Kelly Handsome has shared his opinion on why celebrities are battling depression in recent times.

The likes of Harrysong, Halima Abubakar, Tonto Dikeh , Wale and others have joined the league of Nigerian celebrities who have been depressed.

Kelly Handsome wrote:”Depression amongst artistes is becoming rampant. It is the repercussion of a living a fake unsustainable life. Stay true to yourself”.

A new study by the World Bank has revealed that 22 per cent of Nigerians, on average, are chronically depressed.

The study looked at the first nationally representative estimates of chronic depression in Nigeria to shed light on how it may be linked to economic outcomes, such as Labour market and human capital investments, especially in heavy-conflict areas or for individuals or communities who have experienced shocks or deaths.

Now let’s bring it back home. In recent times, a lot of Nigerian celebrities have confessed to being depressed. The glamour and stardom they enjoy does not isolate them from depression
