Former Tanzanian President, Dr Jakaya Kikwete, has lauded Skill `G’ Nigeria Limited over its contributions to hands-on learning and capacity building in scientific and technology.

Kiwete expressed his delight while inspecting the facilities and science and technology instructional materials at Skill `G’ office in Abuja.

Skill ‘G’ is a leading company in the promotion of science, technology and technical education in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

It specialises in education instructional material development, supply and installation; it also specialises in training/ capacity building and Education Resource Centre Administration.

Kikwete was shown round the facilities by Prof. Gregory Ibe, Managing Director, Skill `G’.

“I am impressed. I will not regret coming here because I have learnt a lot of useful things.

“If emulated, in many places in the continent, I am sure we will be able to uplift our level of understanding and development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics which is key to our breakthrough in the continent.

“Greg is making a wonderful contributions and I hope he will go beyond Nigeria.’’

Some of the equipment the former president inspected were –car manufacturing, autotronics and automobile, plumbing/sanitation, refrigeration/air-conditioning, robotics, among others.

Ibe said that the firm was working in 40 primary schools per state, 62 colleges of education and 73 universities.

He said that no fewer than 292 technologists had been trained in polytechnics and universities.

According to Ibe, Skill `G’ is in partnership with UNESCO and ECOWAS.
