Rising actress, Jane Obi may not be a household name yet, but the talented actress has what it takes to shine in Nolywood. Obi has starred in moves like Attitude, Brave Mind, Sins of the Past and others.

The Anambra State actress in this interview with TheNewsGuru opens up about her passion for acting, her most challenging movie role, prenmarital sex among other issues.

How did you get into Nollywood?

It was a hobby at first, and then I developed the passion for it.

What was your first acting experienced like?

Well I started with a theatre group; we would do rehearsals all night without necessarily shooting. So by the time I joined the actors guild, I already knew one or two things about acting. My first major film was with Tchidi chikere and yes I was scared. The movie is titled ‘Unforkable’ featuring Nkem Owoh, Nuella Njubigbo and others

What is the movie about?

The movie is about young girls married to older men. At a point the girls revolted and started a movement. I was based in Enugu.

What’s your most challenging movie role?

That will be Loving in Pain, a movie I acted in alongside Fredrick Leonard and Ruth Kadiri. Fredrick is a fantastic actor and I had to keep up to his level.

What is the greatest price you have paid for acting?

That will be not being paid as much as I deserve taking the role

Have you ever had any embarrassing moments with a fan?

A woman at a mall asked me why am I so beautiful in real life and ugly in a movie she said she watched. I didn’t know what to say.

There is this misconception about actresses being promiscuous. What do you have to say about that?

Promiscuity has nothing to do with the profession. It’s personal decision. People also say same things about people who work in banks, about nurses and others. The only difference is that actors are public figures

What’s your opinion on the ongoing reality TV show, Big Brother Naija?

In my own opinion, Big Brother Naija is the fastest way to stardom. Once you get into the house, whether you are talented or not, you become a celebrity. I am wondering how some of these Double Wahala contestants made it to the house. Choosing to have sex or not is a personal thing. Big Brother Naija is just a platform, what you do in the house is your choice.

You flaunt your sex appeal on social media, Is It intentional?

I believe in this popular saying, ‘If you have it, you flaunt it’.

Do you think Nigerian men are romantic?

Some are really romantic, but if I have my way I would marry a white man though I haven’t dated one before. But from what I see, I think they are more loyal.

What is your general opinion about premarital sex?

Asides the African values, there is nothing wrong with premarital sex, infact you can only have a fulfilled sexual life if you experience it all before marriage.

How about what the bible says about fornication?

Those are limitations placed on humans by fellow humans

So you can’t marry a man unless you ‘Sample ‘him?

I must confirm because life will be miserable without good sex

How do you pull off your romantic roles?

I try to be as professional as possible.

Have you ever been paired with an actor who got turned on by you on set?

Yes I have, but don’t ask who the person is, I won’t tell you. I am sexy and I know it . It has happened more than once.
