Tragedy struck in Lagos on Saturday night when a car conveying a family plunged into the lagoon by Bonny Camp, killing the mother and child.

PM Express reports that the ash coloured salon car with Lagos registration number MUS 38 BL was driving out of the Victoria Island axis towards CMS when it skidded off the road and plunged into the Lagoon.

A Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) response unit arrived the scene immediately after the incident.

An eyewitness said the man, who drove the car, was rescued but his wife and child were trapped in the car and it took LASEMA officials some time before they could retrieve the car and by then the two were dead.

The accident comes a day three people were killed when a luxurious bus travelling from Abia State skidded off its track and plunged into a canal in Owode Elede, around Mile 12, also in Lagos.
