Love was certainly in the air when a Zambian man proposed to his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day aboard a local flight and in front of other passengers.
Twambo Kumwenda, a lab technician at the University of Zambia, took advantage of the local airline’s special offer of two tickets for the price of one to bring his girlfriend along from Lusaka to Livingstone.
Mid-flight and thousands of feet above the ground, Twambo asked Christine to accompany him to the front of the passenger cabin and proposed to her. The rest of the passengers expressed their rapturous delight when Christine said yes. Christine said she had expected Twambo to pop the question but was pleasantly surprised he did it aboard the flight and in front of such a large audience.
The airline later offered the couple free tickets to Durban, South Africa, to celebrate their romantic engagement in style.
