By Olatunde Michael-Daniel

A gruesome image has emerged of airline staff sacrificing a goat following a fatal plane crash in Pakistan.

The animal was pinned down and ritually sacrificed before Pakistan International Airlines resumed flying operations.

It is believed the killing at Benazir Bhutto Airport in the capital Islamabad was made to bring good luck.

GeoTV reported that the airline’s director of engineering advised that a black goat should be killed after an examination of the ATR plane.

The airline had given clearance to fly again after the disaster that claimed the lives of 47 people when flight PK661, a test flight between the Pakistani cities of Chitral and Islamabad, crashed into a hillside.

The remaining 10 ATR planes were grounded until they were deemed safe to fly again.

The second test flight landed successfully in Multan, Pakistan.
