It’s easy to forget where you left your keys, but to forget where you parked your car is something else.

That’s exactly what happened to one BMW driver who left his car in a multi-storey car park six months ago while going to a Stone Roses concert in Manchester.

He parked his vehicle to go to the gig at the Etihad Stadium after driving down from Scotland.

However, when the gig ended he forgot which car park he had left it in then spent five days searching for it before giving up.

They emailed various companies and the council to see if it had been located or removed, but to no avail.

They then reported the vehicle as lost or stolen in August.

Thankfully, officers finally stumbled across the apparently abandoned car at around midnight on Friday.

They checked the records, found it had been reported as lost/stolen, then contacted the owner with the good news.

At a guess, officers predict the bill may be in the region of a mind-blowing £5,000.

Inspector Phil Spurgeon from GMP City Centre team tweeted about the incident, saying: ‘11.55pm – Officers have found a car in a multi-storey lost since June, driver visiting city parked it but couldn’t remember where.

‘Driver apparently spent five days searching car parks in the city before reporting as lost/stolen.’

Hinting at the mammoth cost of such a long stint in a city centre multi-storey, he added: “We can’t imagine what the ticket machine is going to say when they finally put the ticket in – £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££.”
