TRUMP Tower has been evacuated after a suspicious package was found inside.

People were seen desperately fleeing the building amid terror fears after the suspect parcel was discovered by police.

Police swarmed to the scene and ushered people out of the New York skyscraper, which is the permanent residence of US President-elect Donald Trump.

It is not known whether Mr Trump was in the building at the time.

A Fire Department spokesman said: “We’re staging and units and are standing by.”

Heightened security has been in place around Trump Tower since the Republican’s victory over Hillary Clinton.

Trump Tower has been rendered safe after a bomb scare

It is believed the bomb scare has now been rendered safe – the suspicious package actually contained children’s toys, according to police sources.

A tweet from the NYPD’s head of communications said Trump Tower was now clear.
