Despicable Me 3 movie trailer has landed with Gru and the Minions back in action

The new movie follows on from the huge success of the first two Despicable Me movies including 2015’s Minions origin story spin-off.

The first trailer starts off where we left Gru at the end of Despicable Me 2, having married Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig), an Anti-Villain League agent.

However it looks like our two heroes have met their match in the form of a new baddie.

The footage shows a mysterious and eccentric looking villain jumps aboard a ship carrying a vast diamond, only to be spotted by the Anti-Villain League.

On official says: “Wait, that’s not a monster, that’s a man wearing shoulder pads!

“There’s only one super villain whose fashion sense is quite that dated.”

Walt Disney provided Mickey Mouse’s trademark falsetto voice for almost 20 years, before his hectic schedule – and reportedly his smoker’s voice – meant he could no longer continue.

Meet Balthazar Bratt, a former child star and egotist who is obsessed with a character he once played in the 1980s.

stars as the Michael Jackson aficionado as he moon walks his way across the waves onto the naval vessel.

Using expanding bubble gum, Bratt manages to take a hold of the diamond while holding off Gru’s attempts to capture him.

Gru will also be facing his long lost twin brother, also voiced by Steve Carell

In fact Bratt uses a powerful sound gun in the form of a keytar to blow poor Gru’s clothes off.

Apart from his new foe the Minions’ boss will be getting into some sibling rivalry with his long lost twin brother, Dru, also voiced by Carell.

Despicable Me 3 will be released in UK cinemas on June 30, 2017.
