Details have emerged on how the lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Honourable Samalia Suleiman borrowed the sum of N130m from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to offset a N122m loan he got from United Bank for Africa (UBA).

In a letter dated May 10, 2016, the lawmaker 35-year-old lawmaker requested a N130m loan facility from GTB to enable him offset the loan from UBA without laying down any collateral, as he merely stated he would repay through his monthly allowances he promised to domicile with GTB.

His loan request was granted by GTB just three days later on May 13, 2016.
However, in a letter dated November 29, 2016 addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, GTB stated that Suleiman had defaulted on the loan re-payment for four months. The bank added that attempts to reach the lawmaker were abortive as he failed to respond to phone calls or give a definite response when he replied text messages.
